Another war for oil? The west already had the oil contracts in Libya! In fact by supporting the Libyan people in their fight for freedom, if anything, the West risked their oil contracts. The "West" in Libya was UK and France - and reluctantly the US - with full backing of the Arab league. I'm proud that we have helped the Libyan people achieve freedom - I wish them all the best for what will no doubt be a very prosperous future.

May I please kindly request all Gheddafi supporters and Rebel Supporters alike to limit their comments to proper news, if they have any? This is Reuters, for God's sake, and there are important developments going on out there... Fight on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, your own blogs, the streets of Tripoli, but not here

From the BBC: "The Libyan rebel official in charge of finance and oil says they hope to restart exports of crude oil within two weeks. Ali Tarhouni told Reuters they hope to export at least 500,000 barrels per day, growing to 1.6m barrels per day in a year or so. Damage to the oil fields has been minimal, he said." @ Dan Shay - I'm not seeing any resources being "confiscated" here? Unless you are confusing "Confiscated" with "exported"?

John Petters: thanks, I hadn't realized I had the option to switch them off. The problem is, some of the comments are insightful and a few of them actually deliver interesting news taken from other websites, so I prefer just to call for restraint. Including myself. Paolo, over.

looks there are many Gaddafi's snipers on the top of the building, why the Rebel( the anti Gaddafi) force not go to top of the building? I think the Rebel should add more force on the top of the building and reduce the forcr in check point, if you agree, could pass to the rebel

@ robcrilly Libyan Rebels are Al-Qaeda – On Record
Operating out of the Libyan cities of Benghazi, Darna, and Tobruk, Libyan rebels themselves have admitted that many of their members are drawn from Al Qaeda. The London Telegraph has reported that Libyan rebel leader Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi had admitted many of his fighters had just returned from fighting US forces in Iraq. The Telegraph also reported that Hasidi himself had “earlier fought against “the foreign invasion” in Afghanistan, before being captured in 2002 in Peshwar, in Pakistan. He was later handed over to the US, and then held in Libya before being released in 2008.” A United States Army West Point report confirms indeed that fighters drawn from the Libyan cities of Benghazi, Darna, and Tobruk were second only to Saudi Arabia in contributing forces to fight US troops in Iraq. -
It is sad but if you dare do any comment concerning the plans of the West to take advantage of the situation in Libya (put their hands on oil or gold and create a central bank) in any of the "rebel" facebook groups, you are directly kicked out and banned. I urge journalists to inform the public about what is really happening in Libya and not just copy the propaganda given away by press releases. Your job is to question everything not just be a parrots.
