Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi called on his supporters on Thursday to march on Tripoli and "purify" the capital of rebels, who he denounced as "rats, crusaders and unbelievers."
In a short audio speech broadcast on loyalist TV channels, Gaddafi called on all Libya's tribes to rally and expel what he called foreign agents from the country.
"Libya is for the Libyan people and not for the agents, not for imperialism, not for France, not for Sarkozy, not for Italy," he said. "Tripoli is for you, not for those who rely on NATO." -

ISTANBUL, Aug 25 (Reuters) - The Libya Contact Group of international powers on Thursday urged Muammar Gaddafi to turn himself in to avoid further bloodshed in the North African nation.
The group also urged the United Nations Security Council to pass a resolution currently under discussion to unfreeze Libyan assets and agreed to free up these assets in an "expedited" manner.
The group, representing senior diplomats opposed to Gaddafi's campaign to crush the rebellion and members of Libya's National Transitional Council, issued a 14-point statement after meeting in Istanbul. (Reporting by Tulay Karadeniz) -

Algeria wants Libya rebels to curb Qaeda
ALGIERS, Aug 25 (Reuters) - Algeria will not yet recognise Libyan rebels as the new leadership of its neighbour state and wants them to make a strong commitment to fighting al Qaeda in North Africa, an Algerian government source told Reuters.
The high-ranking source also said Algeria, a U.S. ally in the campaign against al Qaeda, has evidence that Libyan militants it had handed over to Muammar Gaddafi's government are now at large in Libya and some have joined the insurgents.

I am not sick, I believe I ma entitled to freedom of speech and freedom to expressing my opinion ?? Or is that a right that we in UK do not have? I am not sick the only reason your assuming that I am sick because in comparrison to your norms and values that have been enforced upon you since the young age it is not socially acceptable to acknowledge dictatorship. Right ? Well i have differeing norms and values and quite frankly if I was related to Colonel Gaddafi I would not feel too bad about it after all he has achieved a lot in his life 42 years of complete and utter rule no ? So forgive me for saying this, but you might find that I ma not sick just acknowledging individuals achievements.

Tunisian fisherman killed by stray Libyan bullet
TUNIS, Aug 25 (Reuters) - A Tunisian fisherman was killed by a stray bullet as he was plying the Mediterranean near the maritime border with Libya, Tunisia's official news agency reported on Thursday.
The 42-year-old man was fishing in a boat with three other men offshore from the Tunisian port of Ktef when gunfire broke out between a Libyan navy vessel loyal to Muammar Gaddafi and rebels in a zodiak evacuating wounded.
The TAP news agency did not say whether the fighting occurred in Tunisian or Libyan waters. The three other fishermen were unharmed, it said.
The port of Ktef is several kilometers (miles) from the Ras Jdir border crossing, where Tunisian forces have raised security due to fighting nearby on the Libyan side.
Fighting spilled over Tunisia's border last week when Tunisia's military exchanged fire with armed Libyans in Tunisia's desert. It was unclear if the Libyan fighters were pro-Gaddafi or rebels.

NATO is indeed NTC's Air Force, I think the early stages of the Tripoli battle have proven that. But the claim they are supporting because they want oil is wrong. Gaddafi gave them oil. NTC will give them oil. They just can't do that while the civil war is going on. NATO is only trying to end the war as soon as possible. They could've done that by supporting Gaddafi too, but they chose not to because, well, he's a ruthless tyrant. And about the UN resolution 1973: the only reason NATO was only allowed to uphold a no-fly zone was because Russia opposed. Remember that the UN security council is NOT a democratic institution, and that if Russia vetoed (one country) the rest of the world would'nt be allowed to do anything.

REBELS SAY FIND MASSIVE GADDAFI FOOD, MEDICINE STOCKS
BENGHAZI, Libya, Aug 25 (Reuters) - Libyan rebel fighters have discovered huge stockpiles of food and medicine hoarded by Muammar Gaddafi's regime in Tripoli that will ease the country's shortages, the rebel council said on Thursday.
"There will be no more problems with regard to food supplies, medicine supplies and fuel," National Transitional Council chairman Mustafa Abdel Jalil told a news conference in the rebels' powerbase city of Benghazi in the east.

Carlos, you ARE sick. Sick because 1) you are delusional enough to objectively buy into the atrocities that Ghadafi has committed for some reason, and 2) to support genocide. While you are entitled to your own opinion about it, your espousing the opinion allows the rest of us to exercise own entitlement to freedom of speech to call you out for the sick individual you are.

Well I think your sick for not having your own opinion and following the general populations opinions. Lets face facts for a second your probably an individual who has not got the mental capacity to understand the in depth meaning of this conflict, while yes certain comments I make are rather attrocious the intrinsic nature of them is rather harmless. You dare accuse me of supporting genocide? I am merely supporting a side in a useless war.....accuse the rebels as well as Gaddafi of genocide. Corect me if I ma wrong the rebels are the ones that are advancing and storming different areas which they deem may be of strategic importance to Gaddafi. I think both sides are doing the wrong thing by fighting amongst each other, why not start a revolt in UK Labour vs Conservative ??? Seriously if you believe the rebels are right in fighting a war against Gaddafi your the sick one. Ever heard of the term dont try to cut the hand that feeds you ?

@ Carlos: "I believe I am entitled to freedom of speech and freedom to expressing my opinion". Strange that the greatest supporters of dictatorship are the first to whine that their rights are being abused. Not a luxury the Libyan people have had for 40 years, to be sure! However, even in the UK, supporting genocide is not a luxury you enjoy. And you suggest that if Gaddafi had not got into power Libya would be like Somalia. My family lived in Benghazi before Gaddafi's "revolution". Tripoli at that time was described as the "Pearl of the Mediterranean". The new rulers of Dubai and Abu Dhabi visited Tripoli and proclaimed that "this is how we want Dubai to become". Libyan society was open and cosmopolitan, and Libya was a single unified country. After 40 years of Gaddafi, Tripoli is a half-empty building site, barely able to compete with Tunis let alone the likes of Dubai. All the public services were decayed or completely absent as gadaffi increasing focused on supporting other countries' dictators. I don't know where your admiration for Gaddafi comes from, but your knowledge of him and his legacy seems not to be based on actual experience. But, if you want to live in a dictatorship, there are plenty left in the world. You don't seem to appreciate either the values or the rights of your current home!

Another western war for oil, but where are the anti-war frauds? Oh yea, because this was a NATO led war to confiscate a nation's wealth and resources we can pretend it was for humanitarian" reasons. Since 0bama's leading the effort from behind, the anti-warriors can leave their collective heads up their a$$es!

(dovenews). Is it confirmed that Gadhaffi is helped to escape somehow by Serbians? Yesterday the rebels claimed they had captured 5 serbian mercenaries as being snipers..so the claim by the witness that Gadhaffi is helped by the Serbs is something we should take serious.
