Good morning everyone, welcome to the live blog of our Newsmaker with David Cameron, George Osborne and Ken Clarke. With recent polls suggesting a hung parliament is the most likely outcome of a general election just weeks away, is the day the Tory fightback begins? uk.reuters.com -

We're expecting the Conservative trio to arrive at 1015 GMT, and speeches will start at 1045. Tory leader David Cameron will speak first, followed by former Chancellor Ken Clarke, who will deliver the keynote speech. We're still waiting to here is George Osborne, who was only added to the bill yesterday afternoon, will make a speech. All three will then take part in a short Q&A session -- I'lll bring you minute-by-minute highlights once the excitement begins. -
Neil Kinnock, meanwhile, thinks Labour can still win this election. The man who led Labour to a surprise defeat in 1992 says doubts about changing government while the economy remains uncertain and a lack of clear policies from the opposition, could work in PM Gordon Brown's favour. uk.reuters.com -
The pound took a battering yesterday after poorer than expected mortgage data and continuing political uncertainty uk.reuters.com Mark Bolsom, Head of UK Trading at Travelex, told Reuters that he thinks a decisive majority is what is needed to stabilise markets. blogs.reuters.com -
Cameron is likely to face more questions on the tax status of his vice party chairman Michael Ashcroft. Despite enjoying the tax advantages of a "non-domiciled" resident, Ashcroft is a major donor to the Conservative Party. What do you think about this story? It's given Labour a handy line of attack, do you think they are guilty of hypocrisy? uk.reuters.com -
The theme of this Newsmaker with the Tory leadership is, of course, the economy. Clarke, who was Chancellor under John Major, will be hoping to re-establish the public's faith in Conservative economic policy. A poll published in the Sunday Times this weekend showed, for the first time since July 1997, people have more trust in Labour than the Conservatives on the economy. uk.reuters.com -

Following on from alankhaw's comment below (at 10.48), as a university student due to graduate from a 4-year law degree next year, I want to know how a government under Mr Cameron will help me a) find a job in an environment it is increasingly difficult to find one, and b) how he will help me clear £25,000 of student loan debt. -

Despite their slide in the polls, Opposition foreign affairs spokesman William Hague is still confident the Conservatives can win the election. In an interview with Reuters, he said: "We are in good shape at the moment. If the election was held today we would win it with a majority in parliament. That is my view from having gone round the country. It's not today so we still have work to do. But we still have a clear advantage." uk.reuters.com -
