Trump recognizes Jerusalem as Israel's capital, in reversal of policy
- President Donald Trump reversed decades of U.S. policy on Wednesday and recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
- Leaders from around the world had warned that the gesture further drives a wedge between Israel and the Palestinians.
- Trump said his administration would also begin a process of moving the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which is expected to take years.
- Trump called his decision a “a long overdue” step to advance the peace process.

While he recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital today, President Trump signed a waiver that delayed the embassy move for at least another six months.
