Though the Chennai airport is shut till December 6, the Navy has allowed some commercial flights from its airbase in Arakkonam. A fare of 1000 rupees will be charged for travelling to southern states and 2000 rupees will be charged for northern states, as per a press release by the union civil aviation ministry.
