- A look at social media in Davos: www.forumblog.org
- We have had a flurry of emails this morning notifying us of the big names who will no longer be attending the WEF meeting in Davos. Former British PM Tony Blair, who is a Member of the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum, is among those to pull out. President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Nigerian President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua have also decided they have something better to do this week.
- More on the no shows -- Reuters' Steve Eder in New York writes that while last year all but one major U.S. bank CEO attended the WEF, many of them will be missing this time round. Being seen wandering the streets of ski resort Davos and hanging out with Bono is not the best image to project in this harsh economic climate, apparently. www.reuters.com
- Bankers will be on the defensive in Davos, argues the New York Times. "The world’s top bankers will arrive in Davos just as the political mood in Washington and other capitals is turning against the financial industry again." www.nytimes.com
- Mark Spelmen, Accenture's Global Head of Strategy, tells the BBC that the challenge for business leaders at Davos is to learn new skills and "work out how to move forward in a way that is speedy, effective and sustainable." news.bbc.co.uk
- What would you ask world leaders at Davos? Every year YouTube sets up a booth where the bigwigs can answer some of your questions. The video above explains how it works and how you can submit your question.

- What's the attraction of Davos? David Ignatius, blogging in The Washington Post, explains why people keep coming back year after year. He says it's the "relentlessly sunny outlook" which makes delegates fork out $10,000 for a ticket and the feeling that "there are real people with their hands on the controls" that keeps journalists coming back for more. blog.washingtonpost.com
- How will the recent devastating earthquake in Haiti feature on the Davos 2010 agenda? An initiative to integrate business into the rebuilding process will be launched during a special plenary session with President Bill Clinton, UN Special Envoy for Haiti, and WEF founder Klaus Schwab. www.forumblog.org
