As a Canadian watching in disgust and amusement, I must say that I am baffled by how these childish antics of American politicians continue in the face of such a serious situation. Given that the financial markets are already beating the USD into the ground, it is not unforeseeable for this to have a very damaging effect on US government debt. If this political theater goes on for much longer these politicians may be responsible for some serious financial consequences if investors lose faith in the US governments ability or willingness to pay its debt. Its incredible that they are squabbling over so little, when so much is at stake. -
