Obama says U.S. to investigate if Boston bombings suspects had help
WASHINGTON, April 19 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama pledged on Friday that the United States will find out whether the two brothers suspected of carrying out the Boston Marathon bombings received help.
Ending a stressful week, Obama appeared in the White House briefing room after police arrested the lone surviving suspect in the Boston suburb of Watertown, ending the manhunt. The other suspect was killed in a shootout overnight with police.
"Obviously tonight there are still many unanswered questions. Among them: why did young men who grew up and studied here as part of our communities and country resort to such violence? How did they plan and carry out these attacks, and did they receive any help?" Obama said.
The president, looking somber and gripping the podium, said Americans are in debt to the people of Boston and Massachusetts for their resilience in responding to the twin blasts that killed three people and injured 176 others on Monday and enduring a wrenching week.
Obama also expressed his condolences to the people of West, Texas, after an explosion on Wednesday at a fertilizer plant killed at least 14 people. He vowed federal resources to help the people there.

Remarks of Special Agent in Charge Richard DesLauriers at Press Conference on Capture of Bombing Suspect
Good evening. I’m Rick DesLauriers, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Boston Division.
It seems like many months since Monday, April 15, the day of the Boston Marathon bombings. Yet, it has merely been five days since the tragic explosions that took three lives, critically injured over 180 spectators, and instilled terror and fear among the citizens of the city of Boston, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and elsewhere.
Today, the city of Boston, the city of Cambridge, and the city of Watertown—and many other communities—can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that two perpetrators who caused so much pain and anguish are no longer a threat to our personal safety and our communities.
Together, with the action and support of our Joint Terrorism Task Force partners—many of which are on the stage with me this evening.
The FBI and our partners remained vigilant and continued to follow through thousands of leads and sifted through hundreds of tips—through thousands of man hours—to reach this moment.
This truly was an absolutely intense investigation—and I do emphasize, a truly intense investigation. As a result of that, justice is being served for the victims of these terrible crimes.
i want to personally express the FBI’s profound thanks to each of our partners for bringing us to this moment here this evening.
No one agency alone accomplished the critically important task of keeping the city of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts safe.
Thank you very much. And I thank you for the support of our media campaign the other day which publicized the photos—I thank you very, very much for the support that the media provided us on that. It was phenomenal. Thank you. -

Three men charged with links to Boston Marathon bombing suspect
Three men were taken into custody in the investigation of last month's deadly Boston Marathon bombing and charged with interfering with the probe, not planning or carrying out the attack, U.S. prosecutors said on Wednesday.
Two of the men were university classmates of 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who last week was criminally charged with planting homemade pressure-cooker bombs at the marathon finish line on April 15 along with his older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Massachusetts said on its official Twitter feed that three men will face charges of obstruction of justice and making false statements.
Papers filed in federal court said authorities charged two men, Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev, with conspiracy to obstruct justice by throwing away a backpack containing fireworks and a laptop computer belonging to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
